Form editor
Templi builds and fills most forms for you. The form editor is where you check or change a form yourself: add groups of questions, choose how each question is answered, set follow-up questions that only appear when they apply, and decide whether the form needs a client. If you would rather describe the change, ask Templi to make it while the form is open.
Ask Templi to change a form
On the Forms page, click Edit next to the form.
Click Ask Templi in the top bar.
Say what to change, for example: Under Your circumstances, add a yes or no question asking whether the client has made a will.
To start from a paper form instead, see Build a form from a PDF.
Create a new form
On the Forms page, click Create new.
Choose Client Fact Find for a form that records a client's personal details, finances and goals, or General for anything else, such as a risk questionnaire, an annual review or a pension policy summary.
Enter a Form name and click Create form. The editor opens on an empty form.
Split the form into groups
Groups break a long form into sections listed down the left, such as Your circumstances, Income and Retirement plans. Questions that are not in a group appear under Other.
Click Add group.
Enter a Name and, if you like, choose an Icon.
Click Create.
Add questions
Select a group, then click a question type in the Add Field panel on the right. The question is added to the group, ready for you to type the question over its placeholder. Use Add a description... under a question to tell Templi what a good answer looks like, which helps it fill the question accurately.
Question type | Use it for |
|---|---|
Short text | A short answer, such as a pension provider or policy number |
Long text | Notes, such as what has changed since the last review |
Rich text | Longer answers that need headings or bullet points |
Yes / No | A straight choice, such as whether the client has made a will |
Single select | One answer from a list, such as attitude to risk |
Multi select | Several answers from a list, such as the reasons for investing |
Number | A count, such as the number of dependants |
Date | A date, such as a planned retirement date |
Record | Related details kept together, such as an employer, job title and start date |
List | One answer per row, such as the names of dependants |
Table | Several details per row, such as existing pensions with provider, type and value |
Further down the panel you can also add Currency for amounts in pounds, and ready-made lists for Adviser, Client, Country and County (UK).
Add answer choices
Single select and Multi select questions need a list of answers.
Type an answer in Type an option... and click +.
Repeat for each answer. Click the cross on an answer to remove it.
To offer the rows of a table as the answers, for example so the client can pick one of the pensions listed earlier in the form, click Use options from table and choose the table.
Show a question only when it applies
Follow-up questions keep a form short for clients they do not apply to. You can add one under any Yes / No or choice question.
Under the question, click Add conditional field.
Choose the answer that should show the follow-up, such as Yes.
Choose the Field type and click Add field.
Type the follow-up question, such as What has changed?
The follow-up sits indented under the original question, with a line saying which answer shows it.
Choose whether the form needs a client
New forms need a client before they can be filled. Forms about a document rather than a person, such as a pension policy summary, can be filled from files alone.
Click Settings.
Turn off Require clients.
Click Save changes.
Settings is also where you rename the form or change its type.
Preview and save
Click Preview to see the form the way it is filled in. Answer a question to check its follow-up questions appear, then click Preview again to go back to editing.
Changes to questions are not kept until you click Save. Leaving the page without saving loses them, and Discard throws away everything since your last save.
Once the form is saved, click Fill next to it on the Forms page to have Templi complete it. See Fill a form.
Make a form your default fact find
Your default fact find is the one Templi fills in from client meetings and your back-office system. When you connect your back-office system, Templi sets one up for you. To use a different Client Fact Find form, an administrator opens it in the editor and clicks Use as default fact find.
