Import your clients
Importing brings your advisers and clients from Intelliflo Office, Iress Xplan or Plannr into Templi in one pass, with each client linked to their adviser and their fact find filled from the back-office record. The steps are the same for all three systems. What comes across differs, and the differences are listed at the end.
Before you start
The back-office system must be connected and not waiting for reconnection.
A large firm's import can take a while, mostly because each client's fact find is read from the back office. You can close the page and come back; the import carries on.
Start an import
Go to Settings, then Imports, and click New import. If you have just connected the system, you can also start from the Import clients task in the sidebar.
Choose the system to import from. Only connected systems that support importing are listed.
Wait while Templi fetches your advisers and clients. This is a read, nothing changes yet.
Review advisers
Each adviser from your back office needs a decision. Templi suggests a link when an email address or name lines up with someone already on your team.
Import is the default. It creates the adviser record in Templi without linking it to a team member.
Link connects the CRM adviser record to an existing team member. Any team member can be chosen.
Skip leaves the adviser out. Their clients still import, but without an adviser, and Templi cannot write updates back to the back office for those clients until an adviser is linked.
Importing and linking never invite anyone to Templi or add a seat to your subscription.
Advisers marked In Templi were imported before. Linking them again refreshes their details without creating a duplicate.
Review clients
Tick the clients to import, or use Select all to take the whole book. Select all applies to every client in the import, not only the page you can see. Clients marked In Templi are already here and are unticked by default, because importing them again refreshes their fact find from the back office and overwrites what is in Templi.
Confirm
The confirm page summarises the adviser decisions and the client count. The Import fact finds switch is on by default. Turn it off to link advisers and clients quickly without reading every fact find, which is useful for a first pass on a large book. If any advisers were skipped, Templi warns you and asks whether to import anyway.
Click Confirm import. From here the import runs on its own and cannot be undone, though it can be cancelled.
Watch progress, cancel or retry
The status page shows advisers and clients imported so far. Cancel import stops after the current record; anything already imported is kept. Retry takes a failed import back to the review step. If some records fail, a link shows each one with the reason so you can fix it in the back office and import those clients again.
If Templi loses access to the CRM during a long import, the import stops and reports a reconnect error. Reconnect Iress Xplan, Intelliflo Office, or Plannr, then retry the import.
Refresh a single client
To pull one client's latest fact find without running a full import, open the client in Templi and use the re-import option on their record. It reads the back-office record again and replaces the fact find in Templi.
What comes across from each system
All three bring across clients, advisers, personal and contact details, addresses, income and assets, and fill the fact find. The differences that matter when you plan an import:
Detail | Intelliflo Office | Iress Xplan | Plannr |
|---|---|---|---|
Adviser email addresses | Yes, so links are suggested by email | No. Advisers arrive with names only, so links are suggested by name | Yes |
Groups and households | Yes, family groups are recreated | No. Xplan does not provide group data, only the partner link between a couple | Yes, Plannr circles become Templi groups |
Family relationships | Yes, spouse, parent, sibling, trustee and similar | Partner only | No typed relationships, groups only |
Client type | Yes, individual, trust, business or charity | Worked out from the Xplan client type description | Not provided, so every client starts as an individual |
Employment | Yes | Not held in Xplan's connection. Employment lives in Templi only and is never written back | Yes |
Liabilities | No | Yes | Yes, as mortgage and loan plans |
Dependants, goals, expenditure | No | Yes | Yes. Expenditure needs your firm's expenditure categories to be set up in Plannr |
Pensions, protection and other plans | Plans import with their fund holdings, valuations and contributions | Pensions, assets and liabilities import as plans, with portfolio positions as their fund holdings and the regular contribution on a pension | Plans import with their fund holdings and latest value. Plannr provides no contributions |
Client documents | Yes, readable when drafting | No, Xplan provides no document access | Yes, readable when drafting |
For firms with plans switched on, all three systems import the plans themselves along with the funds they hold. Each holding keeps the provider's own fund or product code, and where the system supplies them, the ISIN, SEDOL and Citicode are stored as three separate values. A blank identifier means the source did not supply that code, not that the import failed. Sending a plan the other way is covered in Send a plan to your CRM.
A fund's asset class arrives blank. None of the three systems reliably states what a fund is invested in, so Templi records what it is given rather than guessing a sector. Set it yourself on the holdings where the split matters for a report.
Each system's own page has the full list of what is read and what is written back: Intelliflo Office, Iress Xplan, Plannr.
